Winter Wellness: Take care of you this winter!
January is a unique month isn’t it. It is the start of a new year, when we often focus on our goals, intentions and any changes we want to make in our lives. It can be a time of great hope and forward thinking, yet also be really dark and cold. It also feels long. Then, before we know it, February is here, and we’re filled with hope and positivity again. We’re looking for signs of spring, yet it’s still freezing cold. There are signs that the days are getting longer, despite the mornings still being dark. So, the need to take care of ourselves, inside and out, is still really important.
So here are a few of my tips to help us as we reach out for the end of what feels like a long winter.
Intentional Self Care in Winter
Choose goal and intentions that you will be able to achieve – ones that require small, kind steps. Wrap up warm and get outdoors for a walk with a friend (I did this one today), both the walk and the chat will do you both the world of good. Cozy indoor activities, like reading, knitting or watching a movie can help us all enjoy those dark, cold evenings.
Winter Wellness for you Skin and Body
Cold air can dry out our skin, as can our heating while indoors. So make sure to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water. Also use a good body butter, lip balm and hand cream too. As soon as you see or feel those dry skin areas, get them moisturised.

Embrace Rest and Reflection
A warm bath in Epsom salts to relax your muscles, combined with a herbal tea, can be calming and also help to boost your immunity. Make sure to take time for yourself, to rest and recharge. There have been so many bugs and illnesses around, do what you need to do, to rest and recharge.
Send those Messages
Organise a date night at home with your partner, family or friends. I recently watched a clip of an interview that said, all we need is 8 minutes of someone’s time to make us feel better. Plan ways to spend time with the people who are important to you. A cozy night in, a pamper session, or a coffee shop with an open fire could change the course of someone’s week, including your own.
